Summer is just around the corner and you have probably already made your holiday plans! Whether you are stuck in a traffic jam in the south of France with your caravan or bivouacking in a cabin in the Veluwe, you will miss your green housemates. Luckily, we’ve thought of them! In this blog, we give you 6 tips so you don’t neglect your housemates during your well-deserved holiday.
1. Reduce the light
The less light plants get, the less water they need for photosynthesis. Don’t go putting all your plants in a dark cellar just yet, because they don’t like too little light. A few metres further from the window or closing the curtains a little can make a big difference to your plant’s water consumption.
2. Give enough water before you leave
This is an obvious one, but make sure that all your plants are well watered just before you leave. If possible, put your plants under the tap for a while so that the soil is thoroughly soaked, but no water remains at the bottom of the pot. Then they will survive a few more days without your loving attention. Our Gerrit the Watering is not the most difficult of people.
